Zeiss Z.1 Lightsheet / Single Plane Illumination Microscopy ("FinWhale")

The FinWhale is a Zeiss Z.1 Light sheet microscope that can be used to image larger aqueous and cleared samples. The microscope is equipped with dual cameras for 2-Color simultaneous acquisition. The system can be used for high-speed fixed or live-cell imaging, imaging large thick samples at high resolution with low photobleaching and phototoxicity, and isotropic resolution.  Samples are typically embedded in agarose and either aqueous or pre-cleared  (Clarity, PACT, etc..). Samples can require extensive optimization. Please contact for more information!

Capabilities

  • High-speed fixed or live-cell imaging (>100fps)
  • Ability to image large, thick samples at high resolution with extremely low-bleach, low phototoxicity
  • Long-term live-cell imaging (>6 hours) cabaplities
  • Isotropic resolution- best possible reconstruction
  • 3D Volumetric Imaging with automated 360 degree sample rotation capabilities
  • Tissue Clearing Imaging (acquous and organic solvants)
  • Whole tissue, organoid, organism and small organism imaging
